The Dish Ring is of typical circular form, with incuse sides, which are most beautifully engraved with an upper and lower band of foliate sprigs on a scratch engraved ground, interspersed with oval Neo Classical medallions. The quality of the engraving is exceptional. Most Irish Dish Rings are pierced, and to find a solid example is most unusual. The only example shown in Irish Silver by Douglas Bennett, is housed within the National Museum of Ireland. The Ring is in excellent condition and is fully marked at the base. Joseph Jackson was an important silversmith who was working at 7, Hoeys Court when this pieces was made. He was elected Warden of the Goldsmiths Company in 1791-93 and Master 1795-96.
