The Snuffer Tray is of the unusual early design and stands on four shell feet. The shaped rectangular body has a raised rim which is decorated with gadrooning and unusual raying shells in each corner. This piece has a flying scroll handle and is engraved with a contemporary Crest. The Tray is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the base. Crouch & Hannam were very fine Salver and Tray makers and this piece shows all of the quality which they were famous for. Snuffer Trays tended to sit flat on the table and to find one with feet and a handle is unusual.
