The Teapot is modelled in an attractive oval baluster form with panelled sides decorated with prick dot garlands and bright cut bands of floral sprigs interspersed with crescents.  The front and reverse displays a circular cartouche flanked by crossed branches with scrolls below, the front containing a set of contemporary script initials.  The stepped, domed, cover is engraved with a zig zag pattern and terminates in a fruit wood acorn finial, with silver foliate platform below.  This piece has an elegant swan neck handle, decorated with flat fluting and a harp shaped fruitwood handle.  The Teapot is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and with the sterling mark on the underside of the hinged cover.  This piece also posseses its original stand, which is engraved with the same borders, and cartouche, as seen on the teapot.  The stand has four pretty scroll legs decorated with bat wing fluting and displays a full set of hallmarks on the underside.

Urquhart & Hart were fine maker's who specialised in the production of fine tea related silver from workshops in Clerkenwell Green.
