The Teapot is of a beautiful shaped rectangular form with incuse sides. The main body is engraved with a lower band of foliate motifs of a prick dot ground. The upper frieze displays foliate sprays, oval motifs and scroll work, also on a scratch engraved ground. Each side also displays a shield shaped vacant cartouche, with foliate motifs above and below. The slightly domed cover displays an engraved border of foliate spears and rises to terminate in a fruitwood pineapple finial. This piece has an elegant straight, tapering, spout and a fruitwood scroll handle. The Teapot is in excellent, crisp, condition and is very well marked on the foot and with the sterling mark on the cover.
