The Tea Caddy is modelled in an attractive oval baluster form with panelled sides decorated with prick dot garlands and bright cut bands of floral sprigs interspersed with crescents. The front and reverse displays a circular cartouche falnked by crossed branches with scrolls below, the front containing a set of contemporary script initials. The stepped, domed, cover is engraved with a zig zag pattern and terminates in a fruit wood acorn finial, with silver foliate platform below. This piece is unusual in that the interior is divided in the middle, so that two different types of tea can be contained inside. The caddy is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and with the sterling mark on the underside of the cover. Urquhart & Hart were fine maker's who specialised in the production of fine tea related silver from workshops in Clerkenwell Green.
