A very rare set of six George II Cast "Falstaff" Teaspoons made in London circa 1750 by Thomas Dene.

The Teaspoons are of a most unusual design and are modelled in the Hanoverian style. The shaped stems display a raised bearded male mask, now recognised as the Shakespearian character Falstaff, this is surrounded by Rococo shell and scroll details. The reverse of the stem displays foliate designs and a vacant Rococo scroll cartouche. The reverse of the bowl displays a raised shell and scroll back and the stems are marked with the makers mark and sterling mark. The spoons are in quite excellent condition. A very rare set of George II Spoons.
