This piece is modelled in the design of larger porringers and has a baluster shaped body and slightly everted rim.  The main body is beautifully decorated with tulips on a matted ground, with vertical bands between and a prick dot frame above.  Most unusually, is that the base is decorated with a spider's web surrounded by prick dot ovals and an outer prick dot border.  The Porringer has plain "S" scroll handles and is very well marked on the side of the main body under the rim.  This piece is in excellent condition and has a fine colour.  As you will appreciate, it is most unusual to find a spider's web motif on the base of a porringer at this date and the tulips are a reference to Holland where Charles II spent some of his time in exile, before the Monarchy was restored in 1660.
