The horn body has an oval waisted form with a raised girdle around the lower section of the main body. The hinged cover is beautifully decorated with silver overlay depicting foliate motifs, scrolls and Rococo shell details on the thumb piece. The rear displays baluster silver pins below the hinge and the inside of the cover is leather lined to keep the snuff fresh.
This is a typically Scottish design, however they do not appear on the market often, especially in this condition.
