An unusual George III Vinaigrette made in Birmingham in 1819 by John Bettridge.

The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form with two outer side floral and foliate bands. The cover is engraved with swirling foliate motifs around an oval cartouche engraved with contemporary script initials. The base is decorated with a single flower head and this example has a protruding foliate thumb piece. The interior is finely gilded and the grille is pierced and engraved with a central flower head surrounded by foliate motifs. The cover and base are well marked and the underside of the grille is marked with the sterling mark.
