The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form and the cover is finely engraved with a seated man in period costume, eating his meal, with a flask by his side. The dog loyally looks on, seated under a tree. The sides and base are decorated with prick dot bands and the base also displays a central sunburst cartouche. The interior displays a very unusual cast grille depicting a Neo-Classical urn surrounded by trailing flowers. The subject is illustrated in Eric Deliebs Investing in Silver, page 113.
