The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form and the cover is engraved with prick dot bands around a trellis work panel and vacant cartouche. The base is engraved with an outer band of foliate motifs on a scratch engraved ground surrounding prick dot borders and a central flower head. The sides are decorated with prick dot designs and the interior displays a very unusual grille pierced and engraved with an unusual basket of flowers, surrounded by foliate sprays and a herring bone arch above. The Vinaigrette is very well marked and is in excellent condition.  Joseph Ash was one of the finest box makers, in London,  during this period and this box illustrated this.
