The Basket stands on an oval pedestal foot with a beaded rim. The foot is most unusually pierced and engraved with vitruvian scrolls, as well as various prick dot bands. The unusual helmet shaped main body has a beaded rim and is also pierced with two bands of vitruvian scrolls, as well as flower heads in ovals. The sides are engraved with various entwined foliate bands, and garlands, and an oval bright cut cartouche containing a contemporary Crest. The basket has a beaded arched handle, blue glass liner and is fully marked in the foot. This is the first time we have seen this specific design, with a pierced foot, by Hester Bateman.
