This very unusual piece stands on a shaped domed foot which is decorated with a beaded border and which is pierced with horizontal pails interspersed with roundels. The main body displays a beaded wavy rim and is also pierced with wavy bands and roundels interspersed with Neo Classical urns, in oval frames. The piercing is also decorated with bright cut bands. The front displays an oval cartouche engraved with contemporary script initials. The Basket has an arched beaded handle and a blue glass liner. This is a most unusual design for Hester Bateman, especially with the fully pierced body and foot. This example is in excellent, crisp, condition and is very well marked.
