The Snuff Box is inset, on the cover and base, with a beautifully shaded, facetted, agate panel. The gold sides are chased with shells, arch work and foliate motifs on a matted ground, all between raised reeded bands. The unusual shell thumb piece is flanked by wing supporters. The cover is most unusually inset with raying gold frames, chased with shells, flowers and bluebell garlands, which are in turn inset with bloodstone panels.
