The Snuff Box is of an unusual shallow oval form. The base and cover are decorated with an outer band of triangular motifs and the sides, with prick dot bands. The cover displays a finely concealed hinge and an oval cartouche, containing contemporary script initials, all surrounded by floral garlands. The interior is very well marked and displays very fine original gilding. Phipps and Robinson were some of the finest box makers working in London during this period.
