The Toothpick Case has an elliptical form and the cover, base and sides display mother of pearl panels held in place with reeded silver mounts. The hinged cover is engraved with floral sprays around a circular cartouche, all enclosed by a punch bead band. The sides are engraved with an unusual band of blue bell drops. It is particularly unusual to find a mother of pearl toothpick box of this elliptical design.
