The Basket stands on a spreading gadrooned foot and has a slightly baluster body which rises to an everted shaped gadrooned rim. The lower section of the main body is decorated with lobing and the basket has a plain arched handle. The front of the main body is engraved with a contemporary script initial and the interior is finely gilded. Richard Cooke was working at 29 Carey Street in the City of London, when this piece was made. He was known for his outstanding quality which led him to supply the leading Royal retailers, Rundell & Co and Jeffrey, Jones & Gilbert.
