The Slice displays a triangular blade pierced with scroll work engraved with linear designs. The middle of the blade shows a large central fish, flanked by two smaller fish, which is a most unusual design to see on a slice. The Hanoverian pattern handle is decorated with a feather edge border and is attached to the blade with a cast shell moulding. The Slice is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the reverse. A most unusual design, seldom seen on the market. Richard Meach made, amongst other pieces, fine pierced items, especially serving slices. His mark was first entered on 29th March, 1765 and he had workshops at 17, George's Court, Clerkenwell, when this piece was made.
Length: 9.5 inches, 23.75cm.
Width of blade, at the widest point: 3.9 inches, 9.75cm.
