The Snuff Box is modelled in an unusual size and was most probably made for a Lady. This piece has a slightly curved broad rectangular form, with cut corners. The cover is very unusually engraved with stylised birds in flight on a chequered and prick dot ground, around a circular vacant cartouche. The sides display horizontal prick dot and wriggle work designs. The base displays plain bands, raying flower head details and wriggle work and prick dot designs. The interior displays deep gilding and very crisp marks in both the base and underside of the cover.
