The Vinaigrette is gold and modelled in a rare circular form with concentric engine turned cover and base, surrounded by a punched and engraved beaded outer border. The sides are also decorated with engine turning and display a pronounced thumb piece. The cover opens up to reveal a grille pierced with roundels and the inscription " B. F Duppa January, 1840". The Vinaigrette is in exceptional conditional and is of the finest quality. Gold pieces did not need to be marked at this date, however this was a design made by the gold box worker Giles Loyer at this date, so it could well have been made in his workshops.
Diameter: 1.1 inches, 2.75 cm.
