The Basket stands on an oval flared foot which is pierced with vertical pails and which displays beaded borders and oval cast medallions, decorated with flower heads. The main body is also pierced with Neo-Gothic pails and vitruvian scrolls and is decorated with applied drapery swags, floral cast medallions, as well as Ram and Lion mask motifs. The bowl of basket is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials surrounded by a bright cut cartouche with ribbons above. The cast swing handle is of exceptional quality and is decorated with blue bell drops and beaded borders. This piece is in excellent condition and is very well marked in the piercing. A near identical basket is illustrated by the same maker, dated 1777, in Adam Silver, by Robert Rowe, figure 35A.
