The Serving Tongs are of the rare sprung variety and are decorated with beaded borders. The outer sides of the arms also display crisp bright cut engraving. The top central boss is engraved with a contemporary Crest. This type of Tong are usually made by this silversmith, who must have been a specialist sprung tong maker. A similar design, can be seen in Silver Flatware by Ian Pickford, page 178, Figure 310. These tongs are also made in a smaller size.
