The Tea Caddy stands on four scroll feet decorated with shells. The main body has a baluster form with pleated corners, which is engraved all over with unusual prick dot roundels and diamond shaped motifs. The front of the main body is also engraved with a contemporary Crest, contained within one of the roundels. The stepped, pull off cover is also decorated in a similar fashion and terminates in a stylised pineapple finial. The Caddy is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the base and with the makers mark and sterling mark on the cover. Although we have seen this design of caddy previously, we have never seen one decorated in this fashion. Emick Romer was born in Norway and is first registered as working at 123, High Holborn in 1773. He is recorded as supplying sugar and cream baskets to Parker & Wakelin, so he must have enjoyed the Royal patronage of King George III and Queen Charlotte.
