This fine Spoon has a good bowl which displays a crisp beaded rat tail on the reverse. The Trefid stem is very well marked and engraved with a set of contemporary prick dot initials. This piece has a very good colour. The makers mark is illustrated on page 131 of Jackson. Timothy Kent in London Silver Spoonmakers 1500-1697 states that this maker could be Edward Hubbald, apprenticed to Jeremy Johnson in 1652, or Edward Harrison, apprenticed to James Lapley in 1669. Kent highlights that this individual appears to have been a specialist spoonmaker of skill.
