A very fine pair of George II "Onslow" pattern sauce ladles made in London in 1759 by William Turner.

The Ladles have attractive swirl fluted shell bowls decorated unusually on the reverse with scrolls and swirl fluting. The stems are modelled in the transitional pattern, with small shoulders at the base of the stem and unusual cast "Onslow" pattern ends which are engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. The Onslow pattern was first designed by Arthur Onslow (1761-1768), the Great Speaker of Parliament. These pieces are of a good size and are in excellent condition.
