The Jug stands on three hoof feet, with scroll legs, which are attached to the main body with tri-furcated mouldings. The unusual pear shaped main body is decorated with reeding and rises to an everted, shaped, rim. The scroll handle is decorated with leaf capping and the front is engraved with a contemporary scroll, foliate, cipher. The Jug is in excellent condition, is of an exceptional weight, and displays a crisp set of marks on the base. The Frog design of the jug is especially rare and they are nearly always of the finest quality, being cast. A similar example is housed within the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation in Virginia and is illustrated in the catalogue of their collection. Another frog Jug is also shown in Investing in Silver by Eric Delieb, page 81.
