A George III Cylindrical Nutmeg Grater made in Birmingham in 1794 by Samuel Pemberton

This unusual piece has a tubular main body which is beautifully decorated with raised reeded prick dot bands, as well as a band of engraved stylised foliate motifs.  The bottom pull off cover is plain in design with a bright cut rim and conceals the compartment where the nutmeg grater would have been kept.  The unusual high domed cover, is also decorated with bright cut designs and once removed reveals the steel grater.  This piece is in excellent condition and is fully marked on the bottom opening.
