Hester Bateman (1708 - 1794)Hester Bateman was born in 1708, daughter of John Neden, and was baptised on 7th October, 1708 at St. Michael's, Paternoster Royal. On 20th May, 1732 she married John Bateman (c1704-1760) of St. Bartholomew the Less at St. Botolph's Aldersgate. John Bateman was a chainmaker and died in 1760, leaving all of his property to his wife. Hester's first mark was entered on 16th April, 1761, with workshops in Bunhill Row. She retired in 1790 and died on the 16th September, 1794. She is buried at St. Luke's Old Street.
