The Wine Coaster is of a substantial size with baluster sides decorated with lobing. The unusual rim is decorated with two carrying shells, gadrooning, foliate motifs and stylised flower heads and scroll work. This is the first time we have seen a rim of a wine coaster decorated in this fashion. The Coaster has a turned fruitwood base and a central silver boss engraved with a contemporary Armorial, with Crest above, surrounded by a floral and foliate spray cartouche. The Arms and Crest are those of Robert Dent & Charlotte Robarts.
