This spoon is particularly rare as it is a design which is nearly always found made in Old Sheffield Plate, however this piece has been made in Sterling silver. The spoon displays a typical "Sheffield" elongated bowl decorated with bat wing fluting. The handle has a wavy edge decorated with bright cutting and a central oval pierced and engraved with a stylised foliate motif. The spoon is in excellent condition and is very well marked on the reverse. Similar examples, made in Old Sheffield Plate, are shown in "Caddy Spoons" by Captain John Norie, Plate 31.
Length: 3.6 inches, 9cm.
