The Candlesticks have a circular base decorated with a gadrooned band which rises to a section of lobing in sizes. The shaped baluster stems are also decorated with lobing and gadooning, as are the tulip shaped capitals. This is the first time we have seen this lobed design. Each piece has a detachable nozzle decorated with a gadrooned rim and each base displays a good set of hallmarks. The nozzles are also fully marked and the bases are loaded with mahogany, which is always a sign of quality of production. Silver by Matthew Boulton is rare and highly desirable and an image of this great silversmith is also shown.
