The beakers have tall, slightly tapering, sides which are decorated with horizontal coopered bands, to simulate a barrel. The beakers are very well marked on the sides of the main body by the rim, and have gilded interiors. They also display a assay slither on the base. The Beakers are in excellent condition and are of a very good gauge and weight of silver. Similar designs of beakers are illustrated in "Hester Bateman - Queen of English Silversmiths" by David Shure, plate LXXXVI, and are described as rarities. The beakers shown in the book are later by Peter & William Bateman, however the ones we are offering are earlier by the partnership of Peter, Ann & William Bateman, which is a rarer mark, as they were only in partnership from 1801-1805. The mark of Thomas Ollivant is also shown as retailer of the beakers.
