The Jug is modelled in a very unusual tall, angular, oblong form with incuse corners and pronounced pouring spout.  The base and rim is decorated with reeding, as is the loop handle.  The sides are beautifully engraved with flower heads, scrolls and foliate motifs on a scratch engraved ground and flanked by beaded borders.  The front is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials and the interior is gilded.  This piece is in excellent, crisp, condition and is fully marked on the base. John Robins was also a silversmith who specialised in quality tea wares, often of innovative designs.
