The Scissor case is beautifully engraved with bands of acanthus spears and the top oval section displays a spray of roses below three tulips, which was a popular decorative motif on silver after Charles II was in exile on the Continent during the Commonwealth period in England. The case has a suspensory ring which is surrounded by a flower head motif. The oval section has a steel catch which opens up to reveal the interior case. A very rare survivor from this period. Unmarked, as these pieces often are.
