YORK. A rare George III Wine Label made in York circa 1815 by James Barber & William Whitwell.


The label is broad rectangular in form, with cut corners, and a triple thread edge. The border is interspersed with four scallop shell motifs and the label is incised for PORT. This design was one which was produced in York and a similar example, engraved for Vidonia, is contained within the William Lee Collection.
