YORK. A rare George III Sauceboat made in York in 1787 by John Hampston & John Prince.
213726
The Sauceboat stands on an oval cast collet foot which is decorated with beading. The baluster main body is plain in design and the rim and pouring spout is also decorated with applied beading. The loop handle is decorated with reeding and this piece is fully marked under the lip of the pouring spout. Sauceboats are not common from York and this is the first example we have offered in quite some years. This example is of a very good weight and is in excellent condition.
