The Salver is of shaped circular form with a raised gadrooned border and stands on four cast claw and ball feet. The centre is engraved with the contemporary inscription:

P.W. COX

FROM

WINSTON S. CHURCHILL

1963

Percy W. Cox was friend, confidant and estate manager of Churchills beloved Chartwell country estate. The Salver illustrates the fondness and respect in which Churchill and his family held him. He often dined with Winston and Lady Clementine Churchill at Chartwell and attended the wedding of their daughter, Mary, to Lord Soames. The Salver comes with a personal hand written note from Churchill and a photograph of the two together is shown. Presentation gifts from Winston Churchill seldom come onto the market.
