WILLIAM FRISBEE. A very rare George III Butter Tub made in London in 1794 by William Frisbee.

The Butter Tub is unusually modelled as a coopered Tub with two pierced side carrying handles. The sides are decorated with reeded bands, to simulate the metal horizontal bands. The front is also engraved with a contemporary Crest surrounded by a garter containing the Motto Nil Conscire Sibi - Conscience of no Wrong

These butter Tubs are exceptionally rare and this example is of the finest quality, as would be expected from the workshops of William Frisbee. William Frisbee was in partnership in 1792 and 1793 with the great Paul Storr. This would account for the quality of his work.
