This rare piece is modelled as a Maltese Cross and is beautifully engraved with raying designs and bright cut bands. The front displays a central cartouche engraved with contemporary initials and the reverse with a central flower head. The box opens up to reveal a finely gilded interior and a grille pierced and engraved with feathery scrolls and flower heads, in a bright cut frame. The Vinaigrette is in excellent condition and is very well marked, including a maker's mark and sterling mark on the underside of the grille. Due to its rarity, and unusual design, a near identical example is illustrated in "Investing in Silver" by Eric Delieb, page 112. An extract from this book is attached.

Length: 1 inch, 2.5 cm.
