The Mustard Pot is modelled in the rare Classical urn form which is not often found from any centre of silver production, especially Edinburgh. The Mustard Pot stands on a circular pedestal foot which is decorated with reeding. The foot rises to a vase shaped body which is also decorated with a reeded, horizontal, girdle as well as a reeded rim. The stepped, domed, cover rises to a ball finial and this example has a harp shaped side handle. The mustard pot has a gilded interior and blue glass liner. It is clearly marked with the maker's mark, sterling mark and duty mark on the main body and with the sterling mark on the cover. This piece is in quite excellent condition. As previously intimated, Scottish Mustard Pots are extremely rare from this period, however to find a Classical urn form coming from this centre of production is particularly rare.

Height: 4.5 inches, 11.25 cm.
Diameter at the rim: 2.75 inches, 6.88 cm.
Weight: 6oz.
