ROYAL. A very rare Charles II Patch Box, unmarked, but made most probably in London circa 1670.
199921
The Box is circular in form and the sides are engraved with two bands of basket weave design. The cover is also engraved with the same designs as seen on the side enclosing the Monarchs Crown, above the Rose of England, and C R for Charles Rex, Charles II. This piece is an extremely rare survivor and would have been used for patches, which were placed decoratively on the face.
