PAUL STORR. An extremely rare & important George III Silver Gilt Wine Label made in London in 1817 by Paul Storr.


This rare silver gilt wine label is of the heavy die stamped variety and is modelled in the stylised escutcheon form with a gadrooned border interspersed with Rococo shells, acanthus foliage and an anthemion motif. This example is finely engraved with the very rare title of BURGUNDY, which was scarce during the Georgian period. The label is in excellent condition and is very well marked. It is of exceptional quality in terms of design and production. This pieces was, at one time, in the famous Albert Collection, which was dispersed ten years ago.
