NEWCASTLE. An extremely rare George II Dolphin Cream Boat made in Newcastle in 1748 by Isaac Cookson.

The Cream Boat stands on three unusual cast paw feet with matted foliate mouldings where they are attached to the elongated main body. This piece has a shaped wavy rim and a crisp and finely detailed dolphin head handle. The base displays a crisp set of marks and a set of scratch engraved contemporary initials. This design of handle was peculiar to Newcastle and examples are very rare and desirable. This is only the second time we have seen it over the past twenty five years. This piece is in excellent condition, with a good colour.

Height, to the top of the handle: 3.5 inches, 8.75cm.

Length: 5.5 inches, 13.75cm.

Width: 3 inches, 7.5cm.

Weight: 4oz.
