NEWCASTLE. A very rare George III Sifter Spoon made in Newcastle circa 1780 by Langlands & Robertson.

The Sifter is modelled in the Old English pattern and the top of the stem is engraved with a set of contemporary script initials. The deep circular bowl is pierced with roundels in sizes and is decorated, on the exterior, with a double reeded band. This piece is very well marked and is in excellent condition. English Provincial Sifter spoons are very rare, this being the first Newcastle example we have offered over the years.

Length: 7.1 inches, 17.75cm.
