NATHANIEL MILLS. A very rare Castle Top Card Case, York Minster, made in Birmingham in 1845 by Nathaniel Mills.

The Card Case is broad rectangular in form and displays a very rare detailed crisp view of York Minster, in high relief. The scene is surrounded by foliate scrolls and flower heads on a matted ground. The reverse is also chased with scroll work, flower heads and thistles, around a Rococo scroll cartouche engraved with script initials. This example is in excellent condition, with very crisp decoration. Nathaniel Mills was the finest maker of this type of card case, at this date.
