JOHN LUFF. A very fine George II Salver made in London in 1745 by John Luff.

The Salver stands on three hoof feet and displays a raised shaped border decorated with shells and scroll work. The centre of the main body is engraved with a contemporary Armorial surrounded by a scroll and floral spray cartouche. The reverse is also very well marked and is engraved with a set of contemporary initials. The Arms are those of Ashton. The Salver is in excellent condition and has a very good colour. John Luff is a very scarce maker, who specialised in Candlesticks and Salvers.
