This substantial, and large, Basket stands on an oval foot with beaded base. The foot is pierced with one of Hester's trademark designs, this being stylised flower heads in ovals. The main body also displays a beaded rim and very unusual solid border which is decorated with drapery swags, the first time we have seen this design from her workshops. The main body displays further beautiful piercing including the flower heads in ovals seen on the foot, Neo-Gothic Pails and a lower band of diamond motifs, with flowers. The plain bowl is finely engraved with a cotemporary Armorial with crossed branches below and bluebell drops and tied ribbons above. Our heraldic advisor has concluded that the Arms are those of Robinson, as used by the Marquis and Earls of Robinson. The Basket also has an arched handle with beaded border, which is bolted to the main body. The basket is fully marked on the underside and with the sterling mark on the handle.
