The label is unmarked but was almost certainly made in the workshops of Hester Bateman and may well have been an addition to a large set which went straight to the customer. This piece is modelled in the scroll form with a saw-tooth zig zag border to create dramatic effect. The border is engraved with deep bright cut designs and the face with prick dot borders and stylised floral sprigs. This fine example is engraved with the title MOUNTAIN and is in quite excellent condition. A near identical example can be seen in "Wine Labels, a worldwide history", page 55.

Length: 2.5 inches, 6.25cm.
