A rare George III Octagonal Milk/Cream Jug made in London in 1788 by Hester Bateman.

This beautiful piece stands on an octagonal pedestal foot which is decorated with bright cutting.  The main body also has an octagonal form and is engraved with floral and foliate garlands and a bright cut navette shaped vacant cartouche, with tied ribbons above.  The rim is decoarted with applied beading, above a bright cut herring bone band.  This piece also has a reeded high loop handle.  Octagonal form silver is very scarce from the Bateman workshops.  The Jug is in excellent condition and is very well marked in the foot.
