Hester Bateman. An extremely rare George III Hash Dish & Lampstand made in London in 1784 by Hester Bateman.

The removable dish is oval in form with a raised beaded border and two beaded side handles for carrying. The domed cover unusually rises in the centre and terminates in a turned fruitwood and silver finial. The lampstand is also oval in form and has four beaded scroll legs, which stand on circular beaded feet. Unusually the centre of the stand displays a beaded spirit burner for two wicks, with detachable cover, for filling it with spirit. This would have kept the contents of the dish hot.
